A meme:

Ask me to take a picture of any aspect of my life that you're interested in/curious about—it can be anything from my DVD collection to my favorite pair of shoes. Leave your choice(s) here as a comment, and I will reciprocate by taking the pictures and posting them as an entry. That way you get to know a little bit about my life.

I rode with my dad on the back of a 1967 Honda 90 motorcycle yesterday, and it was terrifying/amazing. We were cruising along at approximately 10mph on mostly-deserted suburban streets, but I was shaking the entire time. I trusted my dad without question; it was fear of other cars (even though we saw exactly one) that had me all worked up. Still, exhilarating. I had never ridden a motorcycle before!

Meanwhile, since I've owed [livejournal.com profile] thorne_scratch snippets of fic for over a week now, I figured I'd just do the WIP meme again.

WIP meme. )

The Typewriters. Are you guys okay? I get very worried over here.

Name a character from one of my fandoms, and I will reply saying:

* How I FEEEEEL about this character
* All the people I ship romantically with this character
* My non-romantic OTP for this character
* My unpopular opinion about this character
* One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon

Fandoms: Baseball, Tennis, NBA, NFL, Olympics.

1) Tag six people. Don't refuse to do that. Don't tag who tagged you.
How about [livejournal.com profile] buckle_berry, [livejournal.com profile] ecl1958, [livejournal.com profile] moonmelody, [livejournal.com profile] morebliss, [livejournal.com profile] provetheworst, and [livejournal.com profile] thorne_scratch.

2) People who have been tagged may write their answers on their journal and replace any question that they dislike with a new, original question.

The Cardinals are officially the worst team in the NFC West—the division that is sending a team with a 7-9 record to the playoffs. /o\

Arizona is picking fifth in the NFL draft. Please, god, let something good come of this.

New Year's Eve was kind of a non-event this year. Plans got canceled at the last minute because of a friend's unexpected medical procedure, no one else was doing anything cool, and I had gone out with Auston for New Year's Eve Eve and was still incapable of proper motor function 20 hours later, so I figured it was all for the best and just stayed in. New Year's Day was spent at the Fiesta Bowl, first at the Block Party (lots of free food, most of it kind of gross, but we did the Taco Bell obstacle course and at least got some amazing hats just like these for our troubles) and then at the game itself. It was drafty and freezing even inside the dome, but it was generally fun even though I had no rooting interest in UConn or Oklahoma.

My new wool peacoat that I bought for Thanksgiving in Colorado is thoroughly broken in now after this cold spell we've had. I had to admit defeat and turn on the heater today after not using it at all for two years.

Anyway, at the end of the day I mainly just want to post this:

And do the Fandom is my Boyfriend meme. )

Not so excited about going into the office tomorrow. A five-day workweek, what is that?

Eh. I was going to write a big self-involved intro for this, but that seemed ridiculous and...well. Self-involved.

Basically I'm just doing the unfinished fic meme again.

Baseball RPS, NBA RPS, Figure Skating RPS. )

So that's that.

Meanwhile, my photo of the moment:

I've had this open in a tab for at least four days, and I never do that. I just never get around to closing it, somehow <3

I don't think I'll ever understand baseball slash. Every time I find something new and shiny (like Tim Lincecum, pitching against the Diamondbacks right now on my tv screen), I wander over to the relevant comms and look around, and there is essentially nothing to be found. Maybe I'm just not the baseball type, since I can't fathom what's going on over there.

Spent all day yesterday at the Spa at Camelback Inn getting a couple things done in the morning and then eating and being lazy out by the pool until evening. I read my old copy of The Queen & Di that I bought in London forever ago, and it was so nice to just tune out the rest of the world for a while. I wish I could afford to go there once a month, but I think if I did, I wouldn't appreciate it the same way.

Anyway, on to the five questions meme. Under the cut are questions from [livejournal.com profile] sourberrie and my corresponding answers.

Meme time. )

Reply to this post if you'd like to play and I'll give you five questions of your own :)

So okay, those of you involved in baseball fandom: Could you tell me if there's any Justin Upton slash out there? And if it exists, do you have any recs? I found myself admiring his legs again during the game today and I'm curious.

Speaking of slash, [livejournal.com profile] vitawash24 wrote the loveliest drabble for me the other day, which means I need to post the accompanying meme in my own journal, I think.

Comment in this post to request a drabble/ficlet of any pairing/character of your choosing from me. (I'm going to have to be lame and restrict this somewhat to fandoms I've written in—i.e. Olympic swimming, NBA, Roger/Rafa, NFL.) Prompts are welcome, too! In return, please post this meme in your own journal—unless you really don't feel like it or don't want to. I'm flexible like that :)

Meanwhile, I spent the last few days up in Flagstaff for my sister's college graduation.

Some friends came over this weekend for pizza, wine, and a viewing of The Last Unicorn. The film had come up randomly in conversation a few months months ago, and I was dumbfounded to learn that none of my friends had seen it—or even heard of it! Seriously, The Last Unicorn was THE movie of my childhood; I cannot even fathom someone of my generation growing up without seeing it at least once. So, they came over and we ate and drank and everyone got up to speed on a classic animated film. It was crazy seeing it for the first time after nearly 20 years—I had wondered how accurate my memory of it would be. Pretty accurate, as it turns out. Great movie. Trippy.

Meanwhile, Rafa <3

I wasn't paying as much attention to Barcelona as I normally would have—I was pretty busy this week being paranoid and stressed about Anquan and possible trades, and Larry and his defiant flirtation with the Madden Curse (he thinks Jesus is looking out for him; I hope for his sake that it's true), and the NFL Draft in general (I was briefly panicked that Tennessee was going to select Beanie Wells with the 30th pick). I watched the final, though, and I'm so happy he won. I know how much he loves that tournament. Plus the trophy is a spectacle all on its own. Where in the world would you store five of those?!

Also, the icon meme that I love so much looks to be making the rounds again:

1. Reply to this post and I will pick six of your icons
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.

The icons that [livejournal.com profile] morebliss chose are under the cut. )

Icon Meme:

1. Reply to this post and I will pick five of your icons
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

These are the five that [livejournal.com profile] niennah selected:

This was made by [livejournal.com profile] thyrfing; I love her icons, and the message on this one was great, and also particularly useful when making triumphant Rafa posts—which, luckily enough, happened a lot this past year :) It's also such a Rafa!face; I couldn't resist it.

This was a random photo that I found via an extended Google image search or something; I don't even remember, I just remember that it was random! Anyway, someone had traced Rafa's name in the clay, and I just thought that was awesome. It was a screencap of a television broadcast, and the color quality was horrible—the clay was a dull, mousy brown, so it was a fun little exercise in color correction, on top of everything else.

Roger and Rafa during Kid's Day at this year's US Open. I just loved the unbridled, affectionate happiness on Rafa's face, and the raising eyebrow. It was a great little snapshot of their relationship.

Boris in a locker room, somewhere. This was before he joined the Suns, so maybe it's the Atlanta locker room? Or someplace in Europe? He looked quite young in the full-size version, I remember. Anyway, I love Boris, and shirtless Boris is even better. Plus there was something kind of poignant about Boris, alone, in a dark locker room, that appealed to me.

I hastily cropped this icon the night of the Wimbledon final. I just needed an icon to commemorate the victory; I was on such a high and didn't have any patience for much Photoshopping, but this photo was beautiful all on its own. It captures the part of that night that I will remember the most: the endless sparking of flashbulbs illuminating the trophy, the grass, Rafa's face. I loved this photo so much that I used the full-size version as a desktop at work until at least November.
