Dogpiling on RPS
Jun. 21st, 2009 09:59 pmThere's an interesting RPS discussion happening over here.
Maybe it's because I've written pretty much exclusively in RPS fandoms for the past several years, but my mind boggles at the idea that so many people are flat-out disgusted by RPS. (It's a real person, what if they read it, it's creepy, etc.) While I can see their points in many cases, I have to admit that I don't feel guilty or uncomfortable, in any way, when writing RPS. Maybe I'm insensitive to the people I'm writing about, but I'd argue that I actually do care about them quite a bit—as much as I can care for someone I don't know and (in most cases) have never met, anyway. That so many posters are implying (or blatantly stating) that it's a shameful thing to be doing surprises me.
Anyway, I thought it was worth posting. Seems like RPS writers are woefully underrepresented over there.
