These are the five that
niennah selected:

This was made by
thyrfing; I love her icons, and the message on this one was great, and also particularly useful when making triumphant Rafa posts—which, luckily enough, happened a lot this past year :) It's also
such a Rafa!face; I couldn't resist it.

This was a random photo that I found via an extended Google image search or something; I don't even remember, I just remember that it was random! Anyway, someone had traced Rafa's name in the clay, and I just thought that was awesome. It was a screencap of a television broadcast, and the color quality was horrible—the clay was a dull, mousy brown, so it was a fun little exercise in color correction, on top of everything else.

Roger and Rafa during Kid's Day at this year's US Open. I just loved the unbridled, affectionate happiness on Rafa's face, and the raising eyebrow. It was a great little snapshot of their relationship.

Boris in a locker room, somewhere. This was before he joined the Suns, so maybe it's the Atlanta locker room? Or someplace in Europe? He looked quite young in the full-size version, I remember. Anyway, I love Boris, and shirtless Boris is even better. Plus there was something kind of poignant about Boris, alone, in a dark locker room, that appealed to me.

I hastily cropped this icon the night of the Wimbledon final. I just needed an icon to commemorate the victory; I was on such a high and didn't have any patience for much Photoshopping, but this photo was beautiful all on its own. It captures the part of that night that I will remember the most: the endless sparking of flashbulbs illuminating the trophy, the grass, Rafa's face. I loved this photo so much that I used the full-size version as a desktop at work until at least November.
