Seeing Buster Posey at Starbucks this morning made my heart flutter. Kind of unexpected (didn't realize the Giants were staying at the Ritz), but a most welcome surprise :)

Decided not to go any Giants/Dbacks games this weekend and instead save my money for next weekend in San Francisco. Which reminds me—

Does anyone have suggestions of fun (and relatively cheap) things to do/places to eat/bars to patronize in SF? Last time I was there we wandered and saw random places and had a marvelous time, but I'd like to have a few ideas in mind for those moments when we don't know what to do next.

Oh, my.

In SF you might visit the Ferry Plaza farmer's market. It's at the foot of Market, overlooking the bay - lots of interesting artisanal food, hipster scene for people-watching, good marine views on a sunny morning. I think it's Tu, Thu, Sat mornings until about 2 p.m.

Have a lovely trip!

Oh my gosh, yes, I love that farmers market! We went last year and I think I was so overwhelmed by the majesty of it all that I didn't buy anything besides a blueberry scone. Will definitely go again this weekend and at least buy some cheese :)

I second the farmer's market suggestion - it's been years and I don't think I've ever had better naan than some I bought from a vendor there.

I could spend hours in Amoeba Records, plus there's all kinds of cool stores, restaurants and bars in The Haight. Perfect walking around, enjoying SF on the cheap area.

City Lights Bookstore is a landmark and should definitely be on your must see list. The North Shore is also a cool neighborhood to check out.

Chow (http://www.chowfoodbar.com/church_location.html) in the Castro is one of my favorite restaurants. It's reasonably priced, the food is delicious, and, again, it's in a great neighborhood that's fun to spend some time in.

Have fun!

Thank you for the recs! I've never been to the Haight and haven't been to the Castro since I was 19 and driving through with my mom. Making a note of your suggestions :)
