Feb. 24th, 2006 09:58 pmWednesday, I spent the entire day in downtown Phoenix. I attended a career fair that ended on a fairly promising note, and then I met Garrett for dinner across the street at the Hard Rock Cafe. I hadn't eaten there in nearly a year, so I figured I was about due to go pray beneath the gloves of Stevie Nicks. Which I actually couldn't find, as apparently they've moved them since the last time I was there.
After dinner we went to the Suns/Celtics game. Shawn Marion was incredible—had a career night—and Boris wasn't bad either. One journalist called him the "mini-Matrix." Which is just...something I wouldn't have advised, for a couple of reasons, but it provided some brief amusement, at least.
At halftime we went to the Team Shop, the flagship team shop, in fact, the big, huge, main team shop that I'd somehow never even seen before, let alone patronized. And there, at long last, I found a Boris Diaw jersey. Which I purchased after a brief (and admittedly very weak) debate with myself over whether I really needed to spend $55 on a Diaw jersey when I already had a Steve Nash jersey at home.
I needed to spend the money. And I did. And immediately ripped off the tags and put it on as we were walking back to our seats.
It's a very nice jersey.
Also nice is Steve's new NBA "I love this game" commercial: "Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will." Good for you, Stevie. Like
empressive said, can anyone think of another NBA player who deserves to have someone recite a Gandhi quote while he drives, in slow motion, to the basket?
And just for fun, a little candid!Boris picspam.
( Because I think he's beautiful. )
