Some friends came over this weekend for pizza, wine, and a viewing of The Last Unicorn. The film had come up randomly in conversation a few months months ago, and I was dumbfounded to learn that none of my friends had seen it—or even heard of it! Seriously, The Last Unicorn was THE movie of my childhood; I cannot even fathom someone of my generation growing up without seeing it at least once. So, they came over and we ate and drank and everyone got up to speed on a classic animated film. It was crazy seeing it for the first time after nearly 20 years—I had wondered how accurate my memory of it would be. Pretty accurate, as it turns out. Great movie. Trippy.

I wasn't paying as much attention to Barcelona as I normally would have—I was pretty busy this week being paranoid and stressed about Anquan and possible trades, and Larry and his defiant flirtation with the Madden Curse (he thinks Jesus is looking out for him; I hope for his sake that it's true), and the NFL Draft in general (I was briefly panicked that Tennessee was going to select Beanie Wells with the 30th pick). I watched the final, though, and I'm so happy he won. I know how much he loves that tournament. Plus the trophy is a spectacle all on its own. Where in the world would you store five of those?!

Boris Diaw in a locker room somewhere. I love how dark it is—I wonder about the circumstances of the photo. I also love that he's shirtless. There aren't enough shirtless Boris photos, in my opinion, and the ones you do see are mostly what's posted on Dirty Scottsdale where he's groping some random girl in a club, and...well. That's hardly very slashy.


I love Rafa's victory sprawl :) I have a couple of icons of Rafa in this pose. It's relief, jubilation, exhaustion all at once, and he always gets up caked with red clay and I think it's lovely.


This is one of the first Rafa icons I ever made. His smile is amazing—I love how it changes his entire face. He lights up, looks like a different person. I sort of have a thing for smiles, if you haven't noticed yet.


I love shirtless Rafa. That's pretty much it. You could give an anatomy & physiology lesson on the muscular system with this photo.


Steve Nash filmed a bunch of amazing viral vids for Vitamin Water a while back. I can't even explain them—you just have to watch. My former roommate and I spent at least an hour watching them one night and laughing like idiots. It's just Steve—he's so monotone and Canadian, and then he's suddenly flailing around on a bed while people throw water on him. An icon needed to be made.


Larry's head! One of my favorite things. I'm not sure how much I love Larry with headphones, but they're an iconic part of his pre-game warm-up so I just went with it. I made this early on, when the fascination was new. It became one of many icons featuring Larry's head. I just <3 it, there's nothing else to say.

I liked hearing about your other sporting boys. I love that last icon 'cause he's not even wearing the headphones properly. :D

Also, RAFA WON! I was slightly sad he didn't have his normal clay bath when he won Barcelona, but I've noticed his victory celebrations are always slightly 'muted' when playing against a friend (i.e. any member of the armada or Roger). I love that boy.

ETA: I adore that icon you made of Rafa smiling so very, very much. And not just 'cause I know he's looking Roger's way at that moment. He just has one of the best smiles in the business. You added the lighting effects, no? Very pretty!

In Larry's defense, in that last icon he's having a conversation with someone, hence he very politely uncovered his ears :) He does seem to wear them askew quite a bit, though. Hmm.

I've noticed that too about Rafa. Watching him today, and seeing how the match unfolded, I knew there was no way he would be exuberantly celebrating (until the post-trophy ceremony champagne shower, of course!). I kind of miss all of the rolling around, but it does show a maturity and humble nature that I really do love in him.

And yes, he is utterly glowing in that picture as he stares at Roger (even without the lighting effects)! I'm glad you like it :)
