I was planning to watch the Diamondbacks game today, mainly for the Justin Upton/BJ Upton angle, but then I got all caught up in "Whale Wars" and forgot. By the time I remembered to check on the game, it was over, and apparently I missed a no-hitter? Which underscores how completely ridiculous this Diamondbacks team is, that they can go from a hot mess with no capable pitching whatsoever to a no-hitter in the span of one game.

They replayed the game later on, and I meant to catch that, too, but by then I was busy watching "The Two Escobars" (about Pablo Escobar and Andrés Escobar, no relation) which I'd DVRed earlier in the week, and can I just say: I knew what I was getting into when I recorded this film, and it was still wrenching. The filmmakers had a lot of graphic video and photos to work with, and the bulk of the film itself consisted of really emotional interviews with various people on every side of the story, and I was very affected by it. It's a good thing, though—you have to assume that's the point of films like these—and I suppose that's why I love documentaries so much, in the end.

I'm so affected that I'm not that keen on going to sleep right now, but I think I should make an attempt at least. Have to get up early in the morning to go kayaking. We're hoping to beat the heat.

...Right.
