Went up to Sedona for the weekend. Just the girls this time, so no big gay weddings and no drag queens. It was gorgeous and a lot of fun, even though I was perpetually cold. Apparently my idea of 61 degrees isn't very accurate, especially when the wind is blowing like crazy the entire time; in the future I will bring more clothes. And a legitimate coat.

This is Chapel of the Holy Cross, built into the side of a mountain and absolutely amazing. It almost made me want to go to church properly sometime, not just visit and take a bunch of touristy photos.

We stopped a pretty crazy store with two adorable cats running around and free samples of life-changing mulled apple cider. Seriously, my new goal in life is to replicate that cider. But of course, I couldn't just buy the spice packets that they were selling—that would have been far too easy and made too much sense.

The store's "cactus room."

Later in the day we hiked the Teacup Trail. It was beautiful.

See the teapot in the rock formations?

At the end of the trail (maybe not the actual end, but the end for us) was an enormous sinkhole. There were no railings or anything, just sheer dropoffs of undetermined depth and random people walking right up to the edge with no regard for their personal safety. The entire thing almost gave me a panic attack.

Woke up this morning to cold, rainy weather outside the windows, so we just cooked breakfast and then sat around in front of the fireplace drinking tea and watching football.

As an aside, I own at Boggle. Can you say "venerate"? 11 points, thank you very much.

Meanwhile, I'm writing actual Posey/Lincecum (which in large part I blame on this gif), but it's kind of a weird thing.

Especially when I find Zito/Lincecum gifs of this variety.

Tim and Barry just seem perfectly suited to each other, IMO, so this sudden influx of Posey/Lincecum shenanigans in my own head has me unsettled. And yet, here I am writing it.

So, there's that. A good weekend.

Right before I left I rewatched the end of that game and marveled at the two of them together.

I'm vaguely hopeful it won't take too long to finish...

I've never done much but lurk on live journal...

But I thought I'd log-in to say that this blog you've got here entertains me greatly, being a Giants nut and all. And also...I thought I'd just leave this here...

Oh, this comment made my day, thank you!

And that gif, I just...I don't even have the words. It's amazing and will get its own post, for sure. Much appreciate you sharing it with me :)

...I just clicked the "Parent" button accidentally, and I have no idea what it does...so just letting you know...in case it does something...

Anyhow, yeah...I love a lot of the players...but those two just have "adorable" written all over them. Maybe 'cause they both still look ridiculously young.

And the link I gave you seems to have stopped working for some reason...stupid computers...so here it is again: http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/k513/maiyatpt/timmyposeyaw.gif?t=1291535676

Sedona is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Just absolutely glorious.

Baseball gifs have taken over my life; you may have noticed ;)

SNUGGLING. The Giants clubhouse seems very *coughs* friendly. Think of them as a commune.

I would love to go hiking there!!! :)

It was one of the greatest. Pressing against each other, moments away from becoming WS champions, happier than anything :)

I've never been to the desert Southwest (where I live it looks like my icon), so have only seen pictures. This post reminds me once again of what an amazing place it appears to be. That crazy store looks like someplace I could get lost in for awhile, if only to admire the merchandise.

Those gifs they are killing me. I freely admit to being a technodummy so totally fail at anything connected with gifs, except to admire others' handiwork. Looking forward to seeing more of those and, oh yes, the fic. Of course!

It looks gorgeous in your icon—beautiful hills!

The Southwest is really nice in parts. IMO, Sedona is sort of the pinnacle when it comes to that sort of landscape; I've never seen a place more beautiful than that, at least not in Arizona.

Eh, I can't make gifs either—I just collect them :) I'm certain there are websites where you can make your own gifs, but the entire process is basically a mystery. (I've recently become distracted by an unfinished Zito/Lincecum fic, which I'm typing away at instead of the Poseyfic.)

LOL, "hills." Yes, my sister who now lives in Oregon did warn me before I visited her that the mountains out west make the Appalachians look like "hills." Here's another local icon. The picture was taken at nearly 6700 feet, highest point in the Eastern U.S. If you do a Google Images search on Appalachian Mountains or North Carolina mountains there are a lot of good scenery pics of this area. After living with so much green all my life (both here and in my native NY), the landscape out west sort of frightens me with its huge raw nakedness, but it's definitely an interesting contrast.

I'm so woefully failtastic with gifs that I saved one to my computer a couple of years ago, thinking it would make a great icon. Unfortunately, it lost its "moving" qualities, I have no clue why. So there went that idea. I *have* been able to save and use a couple that were already made into icons, so at least I have those. But other than that...I just don't get it.

Zito/Lincecum, Poseyfic, it makes no difference. It's all good!

Ahaha, well. I grew up on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains, so it does seem quite "hilly" to me in your icons—but gorgeously so. It looks like they get misty? Absolutely beautiful.

Here's a photo I took near Ouray, CO. We were fishing above the timberline, so 11,000ish in elevation. Nothing could grow except grasses and these tiny, amazing flowers. It's beautiful in its own way, and it's kind of crazy being up that high—you get super-tired and more than a little loopy :)

I haven't even tried to make an icon out of a gif, so you're way ahead of me there. If I happen to figure it out one of these days, I'll let you know :D

Yes, the Southern Appalachians are famous for their mist. I'm just east of the Great Smoky Mountains section of the Apps. Wikipedia explains it well: "The name "Smoky" comes from the natural fog that often hangs over the range and presents as large smoke plumes from a distance. This fog, which is most common in the morning and after rainfall, is the result of warm humid air from the Gulf of Mexico cooling rapidly in the higher elevations of Southern Appalachia."

Another wonderful thing about the mountains here is the endless lines of ridges. Just fold upon fold of 'em as far as the eye can see. There were 18 ridges visible in the picture that I used for the "misty" icon. I have a habit of counting them while out driving around or when looking at pictures. It's just irresistible to my eyes.

Wow, so when you're up as high as in that picture, you're basically walking around suffering from oxygen deprivation? Scary! But it's definitely pretty in a very stark way.
