And for all of the glances in Robert’s direction and the little touches that Robert had furtively tried to imbue with meaning, Simon had never expressed any attraction to other men and had almost certainly never acted on it. Robert had been watching; he knew. He had only ever seen him with girls. Beautiful girls. It didn’t take a genius to figure out the problem here.

Let me just say I have had an absolute shit week and as soon as I saw this upon waking this morning I HAD to read it! I needed this. I cannot thank you enough for posting it. It's going to be a fabulous Friday now!

I love this little story. You've written Robert and Simon perfectly. The way Robert convinces him is also  perfect (and honestly, it didn't seem that difficult to do). Robert saying that he is a girl is the hottest thing. He might as well say fuck me now. He also has to take the lead here to keep Simon on track until they both get what they want at the end. It is glorious! I love it when Robert says that he'll suck his cock. God! And when Simon finally admits that he wants to fuck him...This is so hot I need to read it again today!

After reading this again, I had to come back and update my initial comment. And I agree with Fuji here about how concerned Simon is afterwards. It says that he really cares and that was such a nice touch... :)

The dynamic at the end wasn't plotted out in advance; it evolved as I was writing, but just seemed to fit. Robert was so worried about all the bad things that could happen that for a long time he lost sight of the fact that Simon actually cared. That's part about why these two intrigue me so much—in spite of how frantic/desperate/wild I could imagine them being with each other, at the end of the day there were these incredibly deep, meaningful connections that bolstered a relationship that's lasted for 40 years.

Like I said in my previous comment, Robert depicted this way is a bit unusual to me, but I find him and the whole fic so terribly hot! At first I was a little sad for him when he thinks to himself that he knows what to do because he knows from experience what straight men want, then, at the end, I loved that you showed Simon concerned and even caring. Robert deserved this kind of 'respect'.

When I think of Robert analytically, I admit that if he's into sleeping with dudes, he probably switches off. But...in fic, I want all the things going in all of Robert's orifices—always have and probably always will ;) Given your own preferences, I'm flattered that you enjoyed this and found it hot.

There are a lot of emotions at play in this fic, and it's definitely fair to feel bad for Robert, who's been used by straight men in the past (and here he is, potentially adding Simon to that list). Conversely, you could feel bad for Simon, who Robert is manipulating in a deliberate and effective manner to his own ends. It's complex. But at the end of the day, they do care, and I think that allows them to assume the best of each other even in uncertain and trying circumstances.

My idea of Robert is that under his apparently soft, shy and a bit clumsy appearance he's quite strong, strong-willed and determined to get what he wants. Probably he has slept with guys, to experiment or because he met some he liked and found sexually attractive. Whatever the reason, he had no problem about it. Simon was the exception. I'm convinced Robert lost his mind and fell desperately in love with Simon, and while he wanted to be strong and dominate him (and I think Simon, especially when he was young, could easily arouse this kind of feeling) Robert's love for him made him weak and dependent. Like in your fic, their feelings and the way they relate to each other must be very complex and interdependent.

This comment is ridiculously late and I'm so sorry about that. I really loved Robert being a submissive little whore and He wanted all of it, wanted Simon to make a mess of him-mmmm hmmm-yummy. I love how desperate he was for Simon and how surprised he was (and I was surprised to) at how loving Simon was afterwards.

I don't really have any preferences for the boys. I like to keep 'em versatile and this portrayal of Simon as straight but loving was beyond hot. Kudos, indeed!
