I thought I was reading the scores wrong. I must've reread them 39 times, but I was not misreading them.

I coped by going to the swap meet and spending way too much money on a metallic mixed-media sculpture/painting of a school of sardines. Then I came back to the condo and made a sickbed on the couch with pillows and blankets and ate homemade raspberry ice cream as I contemplated the awfulness of Rafa's match and the impossibility of finding a logical place to display my new piece of marine artwork. The sardines, leaning against the wall in the corner, seemed to be mocking me.

So I took a shower and put on my glasses and then watched far too many episodes of "Ice Road Truckers" and "Law & Order" and tried to pretend none of it was happening.

I'm beginning to get over it, but...

Ugh. This is an awful thing. I think I was just sort of taking it for granted, you know?

Sorry that Rafa lost or sorry that I spent all that money on mixed-media sardines? :P

:( It's hard to keep a streak like that going. I'm not into tennis as much as before, but I heard that Soderling guy is pretty unclassy. I guess go Roger?

I really dislike Soderling. I didn't like him before, but this match certainly hasn't done him any favors in my mind.

Eh...I don't know that I'm really rooting for anyone at this point. Maybe Azarenka on the women's side, but that's about it.

Oh you were not the only one. I thought it would be a walk in the park. Never in my wildest nightmares did I see this one coming along. As much as I hate to say it Söderling played great...but Rafa?! What the hell was up with his game???? I can't deal with this. You know, I'm walking around thinking I'm getting over it...but then it comes washing over me again :-(

I don't feel as though anyone is overreacting. Many people get emotional about sports, and it's normal to feel disappointed and sad when things don't go the way you'd hoped. Personally, I think it's great that we can all commiserate on LJ when things go badly, and likewise celebrate together when things go right.

I still haven't seen the match—I don't know if I'll ever get around to watching it—but he must have played poorly. Oh, Rafa. He'll be well-rested for Wimbledon though :)

:(

I sat through almost the whole thing, though I have to admit that I had to go out in the garden for most of the fourth set. Of course Rafa has his bad days, like anyone, but why did it have to be against Soderling, of all people? OK, Murray would have been as bad, but - as you say - ugh. :(

The Soderling bit is borderline unbearable. Oh well, nothing that can be done about it now. He will be well-rested for Wimbledon :)

Even the best have to lose every once in awhile to be reminded of their mortality. It'll only make him better.

Yes, it will make him better :) He wasn't going to make it through his entire career without losing at RG, after all.
