I thought I was reading the scores wrong. I must've reread them 39 times, but I was not misreading them.

I coped by going to the swap meet and spending way too much money on a metallic mixed-media sculpture/painting of a school of sardines. Then I came back to the condo and made a sickbed on the couch with pillows and blankets and ate homemade raspberry ice cream as I contemplated the awfulness of Rafa's match and the impossibility of finding a logical place to display my new piece of marine artwork. The sardines, leaning against the wall in the corner, seemed to be mocking me.

So I took a shower and put on my glasses and then watched far too many episodes of "Ice Road Truckers" and "Law & Order" and tried to pretend none of it was happening.

I'm beginning to get over it, but...

Ugh. This is an awful thing. I think I was just sort of taking it for granted, you know?

Oh you were not the only one. I thought it would be a walk in the park. Never in my wildest nightmares did I see this one coming along. As much as I hate to say it Söderling played great...but Rafa?! What the hell was up with his game???? I can't deal with this. You know, I'm walking around thinking I'm getting over it...but then it comes washing over me again :-(

I don't feel as though anyone is overreacting. Many people get emotional about sports, and it's normal to feel disappointed and sad when things don't go the way you'd hoped. Personally, I think it's great that we can all commiserate on LJ when things go badly, and likewise celebrate together when things go right.

I still haven't seen the match—I don't know if I'll ever get around to watching it—but he must have played poorly. Oh, Rafa. He'll be well-rested for Wimbledon though :)
